Afsaneh Nagy is a Hamburg-based artist whose work unites photography, painting, and emotion in a language of depth and movement. Her artistic journey began within the world of aesthetics — years immersed in the creative pulse of fashion, light, and form shaped her sensitivity for beauty and human expression. Over time, her focus shifted from surface to soul, from appearance to essence.
Afsaneh captures faces not as portraits, but as emotional landscapes — where beauty, strength, fragility, and imperfection intertwine. Her works speak of authenticity, of the quiet poetry that lies within vulnerability. Cracks, flaws, and irregularities are not concealed but embraced; they become symbols of truth and resilience. Her creative process emerges from movement, a choreography between intuition and spontaneity. Each image is born from a fleeting, unreproducible moment. Through layering textures, pigments, and materials, Afsaneh transforms photography into tactile, threedimensional compositions that transcend the boundaries between image and emotion. Her canvases invite the viewer into a space where stillness breathes and imperfection becomes grace.
Since 2014, Afsaneh has been deeply engaged with SOS Children’s Villages International, her long-term charitable collaboration and personal mission of the heart. As an ambassador, she travels globally to support and empower children through art, translating empathy into action. Her works have been presented in numerous exhibitions and international art fairs, including Art Basel, and are held in private collections across Europe. Beyond her own artistic practice, Afsaneh also curates and conceptualizes group exhibitions, creating spaces where authenticity, emotion, and artistic dialogue meet.
